Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix halted immediately after start and Sainz crash
The Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix race at the Suzuka circuit was stopped by a red flag already on the third lap. After starting in the rain in the race, several incidents occurred at once: Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso collided in the first turn, but both drove on, but the Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz crashed the car, losing control of the car.
After that, the race management first released the safety car, and then decided to stop the race altogether. The exact reason for the stop is unknown: it could be either too much water on the track or the need to restore the fenders after Sainz's accident.
