Russia has lost 6,000 pieces of equipment and does not have time to replenish ammunition - US government report

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost six thousand pieces of equipment and uses ammunition on a scale that it cannot compensate due to Western sanctions.

According to "European Truth" with reference to The New York Times, this is stated in the report of the US government.

Russia's ability to build sophisticated precision-guided weapons is said to have already suffered from export controls that limit Russia's access to advanced technology. Western sanctions have also led to a shortage in the Russian Federation of less sophisticated technologies, such as bearings, which makes it difficult to manufacture and repair tanks, aircraft, submarines and other military systems.

The U.S. also recorded that since May, Russia has been short of critical supplies of diesel engines, engine parts for helicopters and aircraft, and its armored tanks. In addition, Moscow had problems fulfilling defense orders from foreign states.

To circumvent the sanctions, Russian intelligence agencies were ordered to "illegally buy Western technology and parts," the report notes. Russia is also seeking supplies from countries such as Iran and North Korea, which are also under Western sanctions.

According to a senior US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Washington is looking for other "bottlenecks" in the process that would complicate the production of military equipment for the Russian Federation - such as ball bearings and fasteners.

Earlier, NATO also noted that the sanctions imposed by the West against Russia in connection with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine have already begun to harm the Russian defense industry - it is experiencing difficulties with the production of complex weapons.

As reported, according to open sources, Ukraine has likely captured at least 440 Russian main battle tanks and about 650 other armored vehicles since the invasion.
