Rishi Sunak Officially Becomes Britain's Prime Minister
King Charles III of Great Britain asked former finance minister Rishi Sunak to form a government.
About this, as writes "European Truth", reports Sky News.
The king received Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace.
Sunak became the 57th British Prime Minister. He is the third prime minister this year and will enter Downing Street as the youngest head of government in two centuries.
Before that, Sunak's predecessor Liz Truss came to the king for an audience to formally announce her resignation. The king accepted the resignation. Liz Truss served as head of government for 49 days.
Recall Truss last week announced her resignation after six weeks in office, and began the election of a new leader of the Conservative Party.
On Monday, it was reported that Penny Mordaunt had withdrawn her candidacy for Tory chief, causing her to be automatically taken over by former Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak.
42-year-old Sunak is on the list of the 250 richest Britons, in large part thanks to his wife Akshati Murthy, who is the daughter of Indian billionaire businessman Narayana Murthy.
Sunak has been in politics since 2015, and before being appointed prime minister, he managed to work in the parliamentary committee on environmental issues and the ministries of housing construction and finance (he headed the latter from February 2020 to July 2022).
