Zelensky responded to petition to abolish visa-free travel with Belarus

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to a petition to abolish the visa-free regime with Belarus. The issue was sent to the Cabinet for study.

It is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the official website of the president.

So, the corresponding petition was posted on the website on July 4.

In it, the author proposes to cancel the visa-free regime with Belarus due to the hostile actions of its regime. The petition notes that the free entry of citizens of Belarus threatens national security.

“Under the guise of citizens of Belarus, the same citizens of Russia who have canceled the visa-free regime can freely enter. The internal affairs bodies, like the Ministry of Defense, are subordinate to Russia, and can issue any documents to the same citizens of the aggressor state. Belarus passively takes part in the attack on Ukraine, which allows you to do everything that harms our country," the author writes.

The President of Ukraine, in turn, said that at the moment the border checkpoints with Belarus are already closed, except for one in Volyn, through which Ukrainians can return. Also, the border of Ukraine is temporarily closed for entry for citizens of Belarus and other foreigners.

The issue raised in the petition, Zelensky proposed to consider the Cabinet of Ministers.

"Currently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been asked to consider the issue raised in the electronic petition in accordance with its competence, as well as to continue relevant work, taking into account the development of the situation, the implementation of measures to protect the national interests of our state and its citizens," he replied.

Recall that the Ukrainian government has introduced a visa regime with the Russian Federation. The decision came into force on July 1.
