Explosions thundered in the occupied Donetsk, the building of the "mayor's office" was damaged

On the morning of October 16, explosions occurred in temporarily occupied Donetsk. This was reported by the Russian state propaganda agency RIA Novosti.

According to the agency, the building of the occupying city administration was damaged. The separatist agency DAN reported that three vehicles were also damaged.

The invaders claim that the strike was allegedly delivered from a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, and they blame the Ukrainian military for this. The evidence for this has not been published.

The Kremlin's propaganda agency TASS also released a video of the explosion, claiming that the "mayor's office" building was badly damaged. The occupiers claim that two people were injured.

Public "Typical Donetsk" published in Telegram a photo from the scene.

Context:

Donetsk has been under Russian occupation since 2014. The occupiers call it the "capital" of a pseudo-formation located in the territories of the Donetsk region of Ukraine, temporarily controlled by the "DPR" terrorists.

From September 23 to September 27, in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, pseudo-referendums were held on the accession of these regions to Russia: people "voted" under the supervision of armed persons, including on the streets and in tents in the markets.

The invaders also held a so-called "referendum" in the captured part of the Nikolaev region, which they "attached" to the Kherson region. Residents of the temporarily occupied Snigirevka went to a rally against Russian pseudo-voting.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that neither fake "referendums" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, nor hybrid "mobilization" in the Russian Federation will change anything in Ukraine's plans to de-occupy its territories.

A number of countries, in particular Germany, Italy, the United States, Great Britain, Serbia, Austria, Georgia, Turkey and others, declared non-recognition of the results of pseudo-referendums. The UN also condemned the holding of "referendums" by the occupiers. Against Russia, new economic sanctions were imposed by the United States, Great Britain and Canada.

On September 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the "state sovereignty and independence" of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine. On September 30, in the Kremlin, Putin signed "agreements" on the "entry" into the Russian Federation of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
