The mayor of Budapest accused Orban of lying and criticized for supporting Putin
Gergely Koracsony said that "Russian gas is a huge scam", and the Hungarian authorities are leading the country to a loss.
On Saturday, October 15, the mayor of the Hungarian capital city of Budapest, Gergely Koraconi, sharply criticized the Hungarian government and its head, Viktor Orban. He accused the country's prime minister, who is said to be Putin's friend, of lying about the benefits of buying gas from Russia. The corresponding statement appeared on the Facebook page of the mayor of Budapest.
Gergely Koracony said that the government of Viktor Orban puts the country on the side of the losers and harms the Hungarian economy.
"What happened many times in Hungarian history is happening again: the government not only puts the country on the wrong side of history, but also puts it on the losing side. That they cannot tell the aggressor from the victim, not only - although it would be enough - morally unjustified, but also economically harmful. Because cheap Russian gas is a lie," the report says.
He noted that Orban's agreements with Putin only harm the country and do not benefit the Hungarians.
"Putin gives gas to Hungary at a very high price, and our increased utility bills only enrich Putin. In fact, the discount on utilities was cut on a long-term gas purchase contract concluded last summer, which has nothing to do with either the war or sanctions ", in no way related to the gas trade. Therefore, we do not receive anything for the irresponsible policies pursued by the government. We must get out of Putin's shadow, we must move from fossil energy to renewable energy," Koraconi emphasized.
He added that Hungarians should choose energy independence instead of energy dependence.
We will remind, earlier Orban said that the war in Ukraine will drag on due to military assistance from the West.
