"Resistance to possible mobilization is almost impossible": Belarusians about moods inside the country
Belarusians are again waiting for the moment to overthrow the Lukashenka regime and are compiling lists of those who want to.
After a series of statements by the self-proclaimed leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, about a military threat, most ordinary Belarusians are waiting for a new moment to overthrow his regime.
This was stated in a commentary by TSN.ua by Belarusian activist Inna Zaitseva, who is called a symbol of the Belarusian opposition. Recall that she went to the protests in 2020 in Belarus in a white dress with a red ribbon. After the persecution of the protesters, Inna left this country for Ukraine.
Now she told us about the moods inside Belarus.
“Now about 20% of the population support the Lukashenko regime, the remaining 80% want it to burn in the fire,” says Zaitseva. “So, among those 20%, only 3% support the idea of bringing Belarusian troops into Ukraine. Most of the population is waiting for the moment when a convenient time comes for the overthrow of Lukashenka's dictatorship, and we are waiting for this in an organized manner. Our President Tikhanovskaya organized the "Victory Plan" project. Everyone who is ready to act is registered on this platform for further cooperation. When? Then when the chance comes. Now the Belarusians have neither weapons nor the opportunity to gather more than three people."
Possible mobilization in Belarus
Officially, not a word has been said about mobilization in Belarus yet. At the same time, this topic is being actively discussed among civilians. In Belarus, there is a great fear associated with the possible announcement of mobilization. But at the same time, any protest in Belarus is impossible, people are unlikely to be able to resist mobilization if it is announced. Therefore, the main message that exists in the Belarusian society is not only to surrender in case of conscription, but also to go over to the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” says Zaitseva.
The partisans were shot in the legs
To the question of whether there really are partisans in Belarus who prevent Russians from fighting against Ukraine, the activist answers as follows: “The partisan movement becomes known after the fact. Any organized activity is impossible, all such actions are a private initiative. This is a feat no less than subversive activities in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Many Ukrainians do not know that our teacher was detained simply because she came to school with a yellow-blue ribbon in her hair, the partisans, in turn, were shot in the legs and tortured."
Many are undecided
Another of the Belarusians we interviewed, a public figure in his city, told us that the majority of the population, of course, supports Ukraine. “At the same time, many people have not yet decided on their position. Admittedly, Belarusian television also has influence, so many people, due to such brainwashing, have chosen the position of staying on the sidelines without commenting on events. There are not very many of them, but they are simply afraid speak out. These are our realities," our interlocutor said.
