Szijjarto came to Moscow for the second time since February 24
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for the second time since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
According to European Pravda, Szijjarto himself wrote about this on Facebook.
"After landing - immediately to the headquarters of Gazprom. We expect a long discussion with Executive Director Alexei Miller, and tonight is a key one for ensuring Hungary's energy security," the message says.
Earlier, Szijjártó said that he was going "for appropriate discussions with Gazprom, with Rosatom and other officials, so that the energy supply for Hungary would be in order not only during the winter, but also in the following months."
And those who criticized the visit, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry accused that they "do not want peace."
First, Szijjarto's new visit to Russia became known from the list of participants in the large-scale conference "Russian Energy Week" held by the Russian government. Peter Szijjártó is listed as a confirmed participant in a panel entitled "Global Energy Trends: Today and Tomorrow" scheduled for October 13th.
Commenting on the possible visit, the spokesman for the EU Foreign Service, Peter Stano, said that under the current circumstances, high-level negotiations with the Russian Federation make no sense.
As reported, in July, Peter Szijjarto became the first European official since February 24 to visit Moscow not for peace talks, but to resolve bilateral issues. Until now, no other minister of the EU states has repeated such a step.
